Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Challenger comes in seven main trim levels, and each of these has several sub-trims. The base SXT comes with 18-inch wheels when equipped with rear-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels with all-wheel drive. The GT adds 20-inch wheels, upgrades the brakes, and adds fog lights, a sport suspension, and a hood scoop. The R/T has unique wheels, an active sport exhaust, and a chrome fuel filter door. Bump up again to the R/T 392 for unique exterior styling, Brembo brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension. The SRT Hellcat comes next with a dual-snorkel hood, quad exhaust tips, and six-piston Bembo brakes, and at the top of the lineup, the new SRT Hellcat Redeye comes with the features of the Hellcat but adds even more power.
Engine (Power)
The engine lineup for the Challenger starts with a 3.6-liter V-6 that generates 305 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. The R/T bumps up the power with a 5.7-liter V-8 with 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque when it's paired with a six-speed manual transmission, or 372 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque when it works with an eight-speed automatic. The R/T 392 has even more power with its 6.4-liter V-8 that gets 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, or you can go with the Hellcat and its 6.2-liter V-8. The new Hellcat Redeye pushes the limits with 797 horsepower.
Performance
There are two levels of Challenger driving. The SXT and GT have the power to give the everyday driver the thrill of a performance vehicle, but for those who want more, the V-8 options have power you can take to the track.
Interior
The Challenger's cabin is spacious with comfortable seats, and starting with the GT, you get a performance steering system with shift buttons and seats with larger bolsters. If you choose the R/T Scat Pack 1320, it even takes the rear seats out entirely to reduce the weight for drag racing. The base starts with a 7-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports, but bumping up to the R/T 392 adds an 8.4-inch touchscreen, the latest version of Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and satellite radio. Other technology includes performance-based apps and the option for an 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo.
Safety Features
You can get the latest in safety technology with the Challenger. All models come standard with a rearview camera, and additional safety systems such as automatic high beams, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are available options. You can also add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
