Trim Levels (Exterior)
Dodge offers the Charger in five main trim levels. The entry-level SXT starts with 17-inch alloy wheels for the rear-wheel drive models and 19-inch wheels for the all-wheel-drive unit. This version comes with LED fog lights and heated side mirrors, and you can also get these on the rear-wheel drive GT. The R/T is next with the same equipment but a larger engine, or you can bump up to the Scat Pack for high-performance Brembo brakes, and a limited-slip rear differential. The SRT Hellcat comes with all the options and features of the lower trims.
Engine (Power)
The engine you get with the Charger depends mainly on the trim level. The base SXT has a 3.6-liter V-6 with 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the R/T is the first to step up to the V-8. This 5.7-liter will get 370 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. The Scat Pack has a 6.4-liter V-8 with 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, and the Hellcat gets a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that generates 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The Charger is all about power and speed. Any of the powertrains will deliver, but for those who want to experience the power that Charger is ultimately capable of, the Hellcat will hit speeds of 204 mph while staying surprisingly composed on the road. The all-wheel drive for the SXT gives you excellent traction in winter weather, and even the 5.7-liter has the power to stay up ahead of the traffic at just half-throttle. You can even add the Super Track Pak to improve handling.
Interior
The Charger is a large sedan with a spacious cabin and room for four. The wide front seats have aggressive bolsters designed to keep you in place on the track. Cloth upholstery comes standard in the lower-end models with leather offered as an option, or you can get it standard in the higher trims. A 7-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen along with the Uconnect infotainment system and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot come standard depending on the trim, and you'll also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto even in the entry-level Charger.
Safety Features
A rearview camera comes standard in the Charger, and for extra advanced safety features, you can add the Technology Group package. This comes with lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
