Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe comes in three trims: Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude. The 4xe has a few key exterior features that separate it from the rest of the Wrangler lineup. It has Electric Blue tow hooks with two up front and one at the rear, as well as a plug-in socket cover located on the vehicle's front so you can conveniently charge the SUV at nose-in charger locations. Like other Wrangler vehicles, the 4xe has a removable roof and doors, a folding windshield, and a folding soft top with a sunroof. An optional hardtop comes in three pieces.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Wrangler 4xe isn't completely electric since it has a gasoline-powered engine as well. That comes in handy if the battery runs low, so you won't be stranded. The battery can be recharged through brake energy regeneration or by plugging it into an outside source. This plug-in hybrid system has an electric motor and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that pumps out 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a four-wheel-drive system through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
On battery power alone, the 2022 Wrangler 4xe can cover an EPA-estimated 22 miles, and it achieves 49 MPGe in combined highway and city driving. When operating as a regular hybrid, the SUV returns 20 mpg. Recharging the battery on a 240-volt charger takes about 2.5 hours, and with a domestic 115-volt setup, it takes up to 15 hours. Also, when properly equipped, the 4xe has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, which is impressive for a plug-in hybrid.
Interior
Its front seats are spacious and comfortable, and the high driver's position helps, especially when off-roading. Rear-seat passengers also enjoy a generous 38.2 inches of legroom. Interior drain plugs are standard, which comes in handy if you need to hose down the inside due to mud accumulation. Behind the split-folding rear seats, the vehicle has 27.7 cubic feet of space and 67.4 cubic feet of space when those seats are folded down.
For infotainment, the 4xe comes standard with a 7-inch touch-screen display, three USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity, all paired with the latest Uconnect 4 system. You can opt for an 8.4-inch touch-screen display, navigation, and Wi-Fi hot spot that allows you to connect up to eight devices.
