Trim Levels (Exterior)
Don't let the fact that the 2022 Wagoneer only has two trims deter you from checking it out. The Series II and III are both capable vehicles. Its two-box silhouette exemplifies the classic Jeep style, and its large windows and classic seven-slot grille pay homage to the original. The SUV comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights and fog lights, but adding the Premium Group package adds 22-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Wagoneer only offers one engine, but it's a powerful one. The 5.7-liter V-8 engine cranks out 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is available for the upper two trims.
Performance
For gas mileage, the 2022 Wagoneer achieves average numbers. With rear-wheel drive, the SUV gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. Those with front-wheel drive achieve 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. When properly equipped, the SUV's mammoth 10,000-pound towing capacity is the highest in its class.
Interior
The three-row SUV has eight seats, but you can replace the standard second-row bench seats with captain's chairs. The front seats are nicely cushioned and adjustable, and all rows have generous headroom and legroom. Not only does the Wagoneer have plenty of space for passengers, but its cargo area is also plentiful. Behind the third-row seats, the vehicle has 27.4 cubic feet of space and 70.8 cubic feet when those seats are folded. Once you fold down the second and third rows, you get a massive 116.7 cubic feet of space, giving you more than enough room to haul large items.
You might not think of Jeep like vehicles as having a plush interior, but that's where the Wagoneer breaks the mold. Its elegant cabin is trimmed with high-end materials. For technology, the SUV is outfitted with the latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system along with a standard 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch touch-screen display. Both boast crisp graphics and are highly customizable. Other standard features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, navigation, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, eight USB ports, and wireless device charging.
Safety Features
To keep everyone safe, the manufacturer outfitted every Wagoneer with almost a dozen safety features, some of which include forward emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a rear-seat alert that reminds you to check on pets and children before you leave the vehicle. Available add-on features found in the Convenience Group include a surround-view parking camera system, automatic high-beam headlights, and driver drowsiness detection.
