Power
When it comes to power, the 2020 Durango doesn't disappoint. The base model comes with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, but two Hemi engines are available. The 5.7-liter or 6.4-liter V-8 Hemi engines can easily tow heavy trailers and large campers. The Durango has one of the
highest towing capacities in its class, as it can tow up to 6,200 pounds with the V-6, 7,400 pounds with the smaller V-8, and 8,700 pounds with the larger V-8. All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, but you can opt for all-wheel drive on most trims.
Dodge removed the V-6 option for the Journey in the 2020 model year, so this SUV has only one engine option remaining. Now you have only a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It also comes only with front-wheel drive. The Journey has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 pounds, which works if you're towing bikes or a couple of kayaks.
Cargo Space
Although both the Durango and Journey are midsize SUVs, they offer different amounts of cargo space. Behind the third row, the Durango has 17.2 cubic feet of space. Folding down that row gives you 43.3 cubic feet, and folding down the second and third rows gives you an impressive 85.1 cubic feet. The Journey doesn't have as much space, with 10.7 cubic feet behind the last row and 37.0 cubic feet behind the second row. Folding down these seats gives you 67.6 cubic feet of space.
Infotainment
No matter whether you're driving to the other side of town, across the country, or somewhere in between, you want to keep everyone entertained. All Durango trims come with the Uconnect infotainment system, paired with either a 7- or 8.4-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as two USB ports, are standard, but you can opt for a rear-seat entertainment system and satellite radio.
The Journey also comes with the Uconnect infotainment system, but it's connected to a 4.3-inch touch-screen display. However, you can upgrade to receive the 8.4-inch display. It comes standard with one USB port, and upgrades include navigation, Bluetooth, and satellite radio. It does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity.
