While we don't have all the details about what to expect from the 2021 model, a few revelations have been made. Here's a look at what we know so far. more Power and Performance Although the exact engine lineup for the 2021 Grand Cherokee is still undetermined, there have been rumors about what to look for under the hood. The popular Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine with eTorque will probably be in the lineup, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with hybridization may also be available. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised to see Jeep offer a diesel engine like the one found in the Wrangler or the Hellcat that comes on the Trackhawk as options for the Grand Cherokee. As with previous models, the 2021 versions will come with either rear-, all-, or four-wheel drive depending on your driving style and preferences. Later in the year, you can expect to see a plug-in hybrid model of this midsize SUV, but even if that doesn't happen, Jeep claims that its entire 2022 lineup will offer hybrid versions. Spacious Interior No one would have called the interior of the previous Grand Cherokee small, but the latest models will have even more space than ever before. This is due in part to the fact that the current length of 114 inches is expected to increase significantly in new models. This will not only create more space for passengers but will also increase the cargo capacity. As for driver-assist technologies, it's not yet known which ones will be standard as opposed to available. However, we can expect to see some of the more common safety features found these days like a lane keeping system, pedestrian detections, and a blind-spot monitoring system with cross-traffic alert. Command-Trac is a part-time four-wheel-drive system that was previously found on the Sport model. With this system, you had to switch the vehicle from two-wheel to four-wheel drive. Now, even the base model will come with Selec-Trac, which can automatically switch the Wrangler from two- to four-wheel drive by detecting the traction your wheels need. If you opt for the Rubicon trim, the Off-Road Plus Package is standard. It gives you improved performance when off-roading. Upgraded Tech In the past, you could find plenty of technology on the Jeep Wrangler, when you chose upgraded models. For 2021, even the Sport S model will come standard with the previously optional Technology Package. It means you get a 7-inch touch screen that's compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as automatic climate control, a TFT 7-inch color display gauge cluster, and a SiriusXM subscription.
