Burke Lake Park offers thoughtfully placed campsites nestled in 800 acres of forest and with access to one of the most popular fishing spots in the state. The park’s campground includes 100 shaded sites, each with picnic tables, grills, and fire rings, but unfortunately, none of the sites are equipped with electrical hookups, However, there is running, potable water available at the bathhouse. Places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and the maximum length for RVs.



2. Pohick Bay Regional Park

This small campsite is located on over 1,000 acres of parkland situated right on the water of Pohick Bay on the Potomac River. The park is perfect for water enthusiasts, with canoeing, boating, and fishing all popular activities. The family campground offers 150 shady spots to camp, of which 100 are RV- friendly and the remaining 50 are simple tent sites.


3. Bull Run Regional Park

1,500 acres of natural parkland and open spaces make up Bull Run Park, a great place to take the whole family. The kids will love the Atlantis Waterpark, and adults can enjoy nearly 20 miles of the beautiful Bull Run Occoquan Trail. The campground includes space for groups and families, and many of the sites are suitable for RVs, with full hookups, including sewage, water, and electricity available.


4. Prince William Forest Park – Oak Ridge Campground

The oasis of peace and calm that is Prince William Forest Park is a welcome respite from the noise and bustle of the big city. There are endless opportunities for outdoor recreation here, including hiking along shady trails, fishing in the miles of streams and lakes, or cycling along the parks many on and off-road trails. Oak Ridge Campground, the main site in the park includes a total of 100 campsites, all of which are reservation only and open from March to November. None of the sites have hookups, and the 33 sites on the C loop are only for tents.



5. Leesylvania State Park

Nestled along the shores of the tidal Potomac River offers lots of fishing opportunities, including from its pier, as well as boating, picnicking, and kayaking. The park’s campground is only for tents and can be reserved by groups by contacting the office directly. Some of the sites are accessible only by canoe or kayak.
