Here’s our list of some of the best views in the area.

1. Old Town AlexandriaChrysler Pacifica | Alexandria, VAChrysler Pacifica Alexandria VA

With beautiful architecture and colonial buildings, Alexandria’s historic downtown district will give you great views and a quaint, antiquated atmosphere. With brick and cobble-lined streets, evocative lighting at dusk, and views of the waterfront, it gives you the chance to take photos, or just to bask in nostalgia as you imagine the area as it was a hundred years ago.

There are plenty of restaurants and shopping opportunities as well, so if you’re hoping for a romantic evening, it could be the perfect destination for a date night in your Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2. Lady Bird Johnson Park

Located on Columbia Island in the Potomac River, this park is home to the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove. As well as the manicured landscape with its floral displays, it also features stunning views across the water to Washington DC. It’s a great place to watch the fireworks on the fourth of July, and you can walk or bike along the river on the Mount Vernon trail to look at the cityscape, monuments, and greenery.

3. Gravelly Point

This park gives you the chance to enjoy the greenery, sunsets over the Potomac River, and the sight of the Capitol Building in downtown Washington. However, it’s especially popular owing to its proximity to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which makes the planes seem close enough to touch as they take off and land. With views that you can’t get anywhere else, a visit to this location is an exhilarating experience.

4. Jones Point Lighthouse

Built in 1855, the lighthouse is a small, one-story house with a lantern on the roof to guide ships up the Potomac River. This historic location is at the end of a beautiful hiking trail that runs up from the Old Town and under the Woodrow Wilson Bridges. With great views of the National Harbor, it also features the original boundary markers of Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, combining historical significance with some fascinating sights.
